Experience

Peter is a Corporate Finance, Real Estate and Projects Partner based in Galadari’s head office in Dubai. Since moving to the Middle East in 2009, Peter has worked with prominent board and family members as well as CEOs, CFOs and General Counsels structuring, documenting and negotiating high profile and complex regional deals.

His expertise includes:

  • Banking, Islamic Finance, Corporate and Projects – Peter regularly advises corporates, funds, SMEs, family offices and High Net Worth individual borrowers / issuers and sponsors as well as banks and financial institutions. In addition to project and Islamic finance, he has significant experience in acquisition, asset, telecoms and real estate finance as well as securitisations and capital markets transactions.
  • Real Estate and Hospitality – As well as commercial, residential and mixed-use projects across the region, Peter specialises in inward bound UK real estate investment. In the hospitality space, clients include hotel, resort, nightclub and F&B owners, operators and developers. Peter has also worked on high profile projects with other advisors in the sector such as architects, brokers, surveyors, financiers and fund raisers. Recent clients include commercial and residential property owners, contractors, developers, real estate investors and investment funds, managers and operators and lenders.
  • Energy and Infrastructure – Peter helps leading regional entities navigate the regulatory landscape and manage their corporate risks. His clients include oil and gas companies, power and water companies, mine owners and renewable companies and investment funds.
  • Private Client, Tax and Estate Planning – Peter works with leading families to implement succession and key man planning for their businesses and assets in the region and beyond.
Outside of the region, and in addition to developed markets such as the UK, US and Europe, Peter has an impressive track record of successfully closing deals in many tricky emerging markets from Kazakhstan to Indonesia in Asia, Zambia and Uganda in Africa, the Dominican Republic and Colombia in Central and South America.

Peter is praised for his commercial acumen developed in various management roles. He works with private practice clients as an extension of their in-house legal department or as a substitution for the legal function in parts of their business where they do not have one.  Clients benefit from his strategic advice often giving significant insights into industry sectors, in areas beyond the typical ambit of a legal advisor including:

  • Fund raising and financial modelling with a proven track record of successfully linking corporates with the best sources of finance (including mezzanine and structured products) to monetarize various asset classes
  • Risk management and compliance coming from an understanding of the risks banks and investors will accept and his clients can safely take as well as the ability to be flexible and creative enough to structure around local law issues to balance risk appetite and risk avoidance
  • Board level advice on best practice in terms of corporate governance and best practice
  • An understanding of the entrepreneurial mindset stemming from a family business background
Prior to joining Galadari, Peter spent 20  years practicing at Magic Circle and Wall Street law firms, Fortune 500 companies and other prestigious regional corporates and government entities, working on a wide range of complex deals across multiple geographies, in both developed and emerging markets.

Peter obtained his First Class Honours in several subjects at Oxford University (BA, MA) before pursuing a Masters at Cambridge (LLM).  He obtained a Commendation from Law School in London before qualifying as a Solicitor in England and Wales in 2000 and then at the Madrid Bar (not currently practising) in 2002.

Peter has taught at undergraduate and masters level at universities in Europe and the Middle East and is a regularly speaker at leading industry events across the region; most recently at the Gulf and Indian Ocean Hotel Investors’ Summit in Abu Dhabi.
