Rashid Bashiri is a dispute resolution legal practitioner, based in our Dubai office. Rashid works alongside the insurance, construction, maritime and IP practices, assisting partners and senior lawyers on both contentious and non-contentious work.
On the contentious side of construction matters, Rashid assists in providing advice concerning delay and disruption, variations and payments. He is also familiar with arbitration proceedings under the rules of DIFC-LCIA, ICC and DIAC. He has also assisted in acting for a client in a claim amounting to AED 17 million, in a dispute between the main contractor and subcontractor in relation to local damages, delay and disruption and variations.
In his work with maritime clients, including underwriters, ship owners and P&I clubs, Rashid has experience in both contentious and non-contentious matters. His expertise includes cargo claims disputes, salvage and review of charterparties. Rashid has excellent knowledge of UAE Law and English Law, related to the maritime industry.
Rashid is often the first point of contact for clients and will liaise with them and the firm’s senior legal practitioners, regarding the preparation of case claim submissions to the court, expert reports and assisting in arbitration proceedings.
Rashid is revered by clients for his responsiveness, results driven attitude and extensive knowledge within his field. He was chosen to represent the University of Southampton in the International Maritime Law Arbitration Court Moot.
